Blast From The Tiki Past

As a young child, I like many had no idea who I would be or what I would be into… but I did know what I liked and what I didn’t like! As you might be able to tell from the featured image, as a child of maybe four or five clearly liked funny faces or if I may Tiki faces…

Its funny when I think about it, I don’t even remember the photo, like at all

Unfortunately in 2020 my Dad passes away from Cancer. (F-Cancer!). His death did have one good side affect (I guess…) I have had this need to save the past, pictures, video, audio, what ever I can get my hands on I want to covert to some version of digital so I can back it up in some version.

So I have only done pictures in the past four-ish years (its the easiest of the formats to back up) While Tapes and cassette tapes take hours, in fact minute for minute to convert to a digital format, a picture takes a few seconds…. I bought a cool picture scanner that is designed to make scanning pictures pretty much as simple as it can be. While going through hundreds of pictures I came across one (the featured picture) and it made me think how many more pictures (that I haven’t seen yet) are of me and my early Tiki Love?

So far nothing yet, but I also have maybe once thousand pictures left to scan, not to mention all the negatives I haven’t even looked it. Its add though my brother recently moved and told me he had a “piggy” bank I gave him from a trip I took years ago to Puerto Rico (2002 if I remember right)

“It will look awesome in your Tiki Bar” He tells me.

Honestly I kinda don’t remember the trip all that much, let alone bringing back a “piggy bank”, but he had it so I clearly went on the trip. Come to find out It was a cruise I was on, but the time in country was limited compared to all the other destinations for that trip so no wonder I don’t remember much.

In his new place he doesn’t have the room he would like and was willing to give me back my gift from over 20 years ago. I appreciate it, and I think it looks pretty cool in The Lava Hut, right on the shelf I made for my radio from my previous blog.

I feel it belongs as if twenty plus years ago I planned all this, obviously I didn’t but I like to pretend lol. I mean really how cool would that have been. It didn’t happen that way but still would have been cool.

In case you didn’t now it would have been freaking awesome!
